The article analyzes three models of interinstitutional relations between the state and the church: 1) the model of freedom of religion from the state through a long distance and strict separation; 2) the model of equality of religions; 3) model of integration through the approximation of civil religion to constitutional morality. As a result of the analysis, the author concludes that сonsidering the constitutions of modern states and human rights treaties that were adopted after the Second World War, it is possible to clearly distinguish individual systems between state and church, there is a predominantly characteristic for the identification or association of ecclesiastical and secular authorities, where it is not manifested in a small extent by the distance between these two spheres. On the contrary, the «formal systems of unity» of the state and the churches that presuppose the existence of a state church or national religion, in their constitutions, are guaranteed primarily by freedom and equality, for example, in the United Kingdom or Greece. Thus, the inviolability of the constitution or the principles of human rights is achieved. The reason for this is that the concept of distance (division), freedom and equality can be interpreted differently: on the one hand, they are more open, ready to compromise on traditionally strong positions of religion in the country and relations of religion with state power; on the other hand, they are more rigid and conservative when it comes to the required distance or the necessary freedom and equality in the exercise of religious rites.
