Conceptual research, gender and the philosophy of postmodernism in the early XXI century
AbstractThe article «Conceptual studies, gender and philosophy of postmodernism at the beginning of the twenty-first century» is devoted to analysis of gender interpretation of recent decades׳ conceptual studies in the Western philosophy of postmodernism. The article examines the fact that postmodernism has put forward theoretical models that have played a fundamental role in gender studies. Postmodernism as the methodological basis for the analysis of gender is particularly important for feminist scholars because of its focus on the fundamental diversity of cognitive perspectives revision of many traditional epistemological concepts. It pays special attention to the fact that feminist philosophers have different answers to the challenges of postmodernism, but their scientific reasoning is based mainly on the analysis of the paradigms̕ functioning. It is a rule that the criticism of the paradigm, no matter how thorough it may be, is successful if an alternative form of argument is not offered. It is also stressed in the article that traditionally there are three scientific paradigms in the Humanities, and that the emergence of a new paradigm in the development of systematical theory of methodology and philosophy has had a significant impact on the gender theory. The article concludes that, in general, feminist approach at the end of the twentieth century emerged as a critic of classical science, philosophy, sociology, psychology - the nature of the relations between the sexes. Within the framework of the new gender approach, the status of the sex ceases to be ascriptive, and gender relations are viewed as socially organized relations of power and inequality. The article also pays special attention to the fact that it is deeply erroneous to consider anthropocentrism as a cultural tradition that reduces universal human subjectivity to a single male norm. Culture is a concretized narrative, often metaphorical, placed in a local context. Thus, culture exists within us, and here it is very important that culture, concept and narration are always in the gender field. Gender identity is dynamically present in any cultural sense, concept or category.
